Sunday Sketchbook

Welcome back to Sunday Sketchbook, there’s something about the back to school feeling of September that gets me inspired so I thought this was the perfect time to return.

Hotels for craft lovers

Bringing together my love of architecture and craft, this article by the Crafts Council is perfect for a Sunday evening browse. It features some beautiful hotels from all over the world which put craft at the centre of their aesthetic. My favourite is the beauty from Mexico, Casona Sforza, which supports a local social project to create craft pieces for its rooms. I love how the building sits in the landscape, and it’s great to hear that it’s working to sit as beautifully in its community. Find your favourite here.

Katharina Grosse

This exhibition was from 2020 so you can no longer see it in real life but these photos are the next best thing. I love the contrast of the uncontrolled colourful wave and monochrome, geometric building. That tension is always part of my work so I connect really strongly to this stunning installation.

British Ceramics Biennial

If you are a fan of ceramics, this is a great event to check out. With exhibitions, workshops and events, it showcases the best potters from around the world. All the events are free to access so you’ve only got to get to Stoke on Trent, and you’ve got until the 17th of October. Find out more here.

From The Studio

I’ve got some great events coming up in the next few weeks, you can find me at Canopy Market alongside Planted (a design event aiming to reconnect people with nature), that’s the 23rd to the 26th of September. I’m also very excited to be back at the Crafty Fox samples and seconds event at Mercato Metropolitano on the 3rd of October. It’s always very busy and I only take samples and seconds so there’s just one of everything - get there early!
