Sunday Sketchbook

Welcome to my Sunday Sketchbook! This morning the sun is shining in Bath after a very rainy Saturday and I’m looking forward to a walk in the lovely Spring fields. Today I’ve got some amazing free craft events you can sign up for, a great way to start DIY printing and a craft very close to my heart, I hope you enjoy.

Hey Craft! 2021

Organised by the crafts council, this year Hey Clay! will become Hey Craft! Aiming to introduce as many people as possible to the transformative power of making, Hey Craft! is a series of online and in person workshops offered for free or at a very low cost up and down the country. It’s a great chance to try something new, i’d love to try this Madhubani Painting workshop from KraftGurus. You can find out what’s on and book on the crafts council website.

Hartley Cycles

As I type this I’m catching up on the Tour de Romandie so I thought I’d share this crossover of my love of making and cycling! Trained as a silversmith, Caren Hartley now makes absolutely beautiful bespoke bicycles with a focus on getting the fit perfect, especially for those of us who are smaller and lady shaped. I love finding out more about this craft via her instagram, and if you are in the market for an absolutely stunning new bike, check out her website here.

Guess The Vegetable

I spent a very happy half hour exploring the vegetable printing videos of Margaret Molinari this week. As part of her 100 day project, she’s been printing with a different household object everyday and the vegetables turned out to be the starts! It’s also a great idea of how to start printing fabric with minimal equipment, i’d love to give this a go. You can watch all the videos here - I think my favourite is the cabbage.

From The Studio

Just a little reminder that today is the last chance to win these beautiful teal studs along with £500 worth of goodies from Prior Shop in Bristol. Head to this instagram post to find out how to enter. There’s a lot of makers to follow but they are all amazing so I’m sure you’ll enjoy following their journeys! Also a big thank you to everyone who came down to Canopy Market last weekend, what a lovely weekend to be in London.
