Sunday Sketchbook
Welcome back to my Sunday Sketchbook, I’ve had a couple of weeks off to reset after I realised that I’d only had a weeks holiday since last May. That feeling of finding it hard to enjoy anything I was doing was a timely reminder of how important rest is. Here’s some exciting things to look out for this week!
Fashion Open Studios Online
Organised by Fashion Revolution, this is a must watch for anyone interested in sustainable fashion. See how designers around the world are innovating to create solutions to the problems posed by producing the clothes we wear. Browse through the designers and sign up watch what you are interested in or catch up on Youtube. I particularly fancy Toktam Hemmati’s tutorial on turning fabric waste into a tapestry! Check out the events here.
All That Glitters
If like me you’ve binged your way through Pottery Throw Down, Blown Away and Bake Off, i’ve got some great news for you. BBC2 is bringing us a new craft show based around jewellery! I’m not sure I’ll be able to enjoy this one as much as I’ll be sympathising so hard with the contestants but I can’t wait to see what they make! Watch it here from Tuesday at 8pm.
Find Your Local Indie Craft Shop
It’s been a super tough year for independent shops, and as they reopen on Monday I thought I’d share this Design Trust guide to finding where your local crafters hang out. There are loads of stats on how much better shopping local is for the whole community, plus you get something unique and gorgeous! I’m looking forward to visiting the gorgeous Prior Shop in Bristol, where I’ll also soon be a stockist.
From The Studio
This week I’m starting prep to head back to Canopy Market on the 30th of April. I’ll have lots of freshly made beauties as well as a few studio samples and seconds for any of you who love a bargain. If you are London based and would like to pop along, me or my lovely assistant Molly will be in Kings Cross on the 30th of April and the 1st, 2nd and 3rd of May for the whole May bank holiday weekend. If there’s anything in particular you’d like me to bring, let me know!
