Sunday Sketchbook

Welcome to Sunday Sketchbook, this week find out about why you need a bit of boredom to get creative, 100 influential female architects and what to do out and about in Leeds.

You can’t have creativity without boredom

I’m always really interested in theories about creativity, so I really enjoyed this article about the link between creativity and boredom. Combining philosophy with anecdotal evidence from the authors own writing practice, it explains how adding a bit of boredom into your day can create the perfect environment for creative thought.

Women who changed architecture

Most of the architects I know about from the twentieth century are men so I was really excited to find this really thorough article (and book) about 100 female architects to redress the balance. I loved this work by student of Walter Gropius, Toshiko Mori.

City guide to Leeds

I love a city guide and I’ve never visited so this was an exciting read. Covering art, shops and restaurants, it’s got everything you need to make the most of a weekend in Leeds. It’s also hosting the Harewood Biennial soon so that’s great excuse to plan a trip.

From The Studio

This week I’ve been busy getting ready for Frome Independent on the 5th of June and I’m planning to have some special things ready that have been a long time in the planning - Jesmonite plant pots made with the turn out from my moulds. If you can’t make it down, I’ll be popping some online too so watch out for an email next week.
