State Of Change Collection

State Of Change Collection

I wanted to share a look behind the scenes of my last collection, State of Change. My jewellery is always inspired by architecture and the city, and by contrasts, this collection looks more specifically at the points of flux in those structures.

This image from a book on the architect Louis Kahn by Joseph Rosa shows a model the redevelopment of the centre of Philadelphia, the contrast of organic curves and new geometric buildings were a big influence on these pieces.

This is a diagram of how molecules change from one state to another, I love the random seeming geometry of the way this is illustrated.

This is a photo from a German book called Seiltanze, which means tightrope walking, about Berlin in the 80's, a city undergoing a massive social change. I took a similar interpretation of Change of State here, a photo of the Olympic Park in Stratford mid redevelopment. I have my studio here and feels like it's moving so fast.

I like to make models of the pieces before I sample them to check the scale and balance, these are the print outs and 3D mock ups for some of the pieces.

I'll be adding more images to my Pinterest account over the next week so check that out to see the full board. You can see how the final pieces turned out here.
